Potentially Dangerous Bacteria in Baby Formula

It is a rare and potentially dangerous bacteria that could be breeding in your baby's bottle.

Doctor Delfina Dominguez is a micro biologist at UTEP. She says while the "Enterobacter Sakazakii" bacteria is rare, it can be found in many places, including sometimes in powdered baby formula.

How it gets there is not known.

As we reported, one infant in Otero County died after the bacteria sickened him. So far, New Mexico Health authorities have not been able to determine if the bacteria in fact came from the baby's powered formula.

Dr. Dominguez says, however, formula sitting at room temperature too long can become a breeding ground for the bacteria.
