The Texas Trost Society will be holding a series of events Mary 3-10, 2014 in celebration of 'Trost Week.' Events throughout the week will celebrate architect Henry Trost.

Events for the week include an architectural tour of Downtown El Paso and Sunset Heights, lectures by art, history and architecture experts, and the opening of a Trost exhibit at the University of Texas at El Paso.

Dr. Max Grossman, Architectural Historian for Texas Trost Society & Vice-Chair of the El Paso County Historical Commission, will lead a tour of Trost & Trost works in Downtown El Paso at 10 am. Participants will meet in the lobby of the Camino Real Hotel, 101 S. El Paso Street, prior to the launch of the tour.

The tour will pause for lunch on the second floor of Anson 11, a new American restaurant located in the restored Anson Mills Building built by Trost & Trost in 1911.

The Sunset Heights Neighborhood Improvement Association will then lead participants on an exclusive tour of four Trost Homes located in the Historic Sunset Heights Neighborhood. Participants will meet at 2:00 p.m. at 1013 W. Yandell, the Trost Home. The tour will include lectures by resident Doug Yost & Henry Trost’s grandniece, Margaret Smith.

Tickets are priced at $75 and can be purchased online at http://texastrost.org. All proceeds will benefit the three non-profit organizations involved with the organization of the tours.

Trost Week will continue on Thursday, May 8th with the ‘Trost Lecture Series’ presented by the UTEP Special Collections Department at 6:00 p.m. in the Blumberg Auditorium on the UTEP campus.
