El Paso's Parks and Recreation Department will offer children several summer outdoor camps this week.

The camp hopes to expose area children to gardening and how important it is to protect our environment.
Summer Session 1 began today at Keystone Heritage and Botanical Garden.
Registration is open to children ages 8 through 17.

"We want the kids to learn all these natural resources that El Paso can offer for them and later on they can come and introduce it to their parents and their brothers," said Carlos Rodriguez, Recreation Specialist with the El Paso Parks and Recreation Department.

The summer camps will run through Friday.

You can register online at or in person at any city Recreation Center.
