Students asked to enter El Paso Earth Day Mural design contest
El Paso, TX — The City of El Paso Environmental Services Department (ESD) is happy to announce a deadline extension for its Earth Day Mural Design Contest for 2014.
The competition is open to all El Paso-area high school students and their art teachers. The winner(s) will get to paint their mural on a City roll-off garbage container. An unveiling ceremony will be held at El Paso’s Earth Day Celebration on April 5, 2014.
The new deadline for mural design submissions is Friday, January 31.
The winner’s campus will receive a trophy and funds to paint the full-sized, winning design. The artwork will also be showcased on the City’s website and cable channel, City 15.
The theme of the mural must focus on Earth Day, environmental awareness, recycling or going green.
The winner(s) will be notified in February.
There is no fee to enter and high schools may submit multiple entries, however each entry requires its own contest form.
El Paso’s Earth Day Celebration will be held Saturday, April 5 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the City Municipal Service Center on San Paulo Drive. Admission is free and the event includes music, food vendors, children’s activities and educational booths.
