El Paso Community College (EPCC) student, Fernando Rodriguez, was selected as a National Distinguished Chapter Member by the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society.

Only 30 students were chosen out of 150 nationwide.

Fernando will be honored with the 2014 Distinguished Chapter Member Awards, presented by Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society during NerdNation 2014, the annual convention in Orlando, Florida, April 24-26.

Fernando Rodriguez is an EPCC Omega Gamma Chapter member of Phi Theta Kappa.

He is a sophomore majoring in Mechanical Engineering.

Distinguished Chapter Members must be nominated by their chapters through the Hallmark Awards application process, and are chosen based on a student’s embodiment of the Hallmarks of the Society (Scholarship, Leadership, Service and Fellowship) through Honors in Action and other chapter activities.

Fernando was nominated by his EPCC chapter for his intelligence and work ethic, becoming a cornerstone in two chapter initiatives: Honors in Action (HIA) Project and the Phone-a-thon recruitment campaign.
