EPPD recruiting for next Citizens Police Academy
El Paso, TX (KTSM) — The El Paso Police Department will begin its next Citizens Police Academy beginning on Tuesday, February 11, 2014.
EPPD says the course will take participants on a journey that will provide them a greater insight into the operation of the El Paso Police Department. Topics in the course will include Patrol Operations, Traffic Enforcement and Accident Investigations, Homicide Investigations, Gang Investigations, Narcotics Investigations, Internal Affairs and Crime scene investigations.
EPPD says participants can also look forward to presentations from SWAT Team, Crisis Negotiations, Canine Unit and the bomb squad.
All classes will be conducted in English and will be conducted at various facilities throughout the city, however EPPD say that most of the courses will take place at the Police Headquarters located at 911 N. Raynor.
Class size is limited, so applicants will be accepted and processed on a first come, first served basis. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and not in high school. Classes will meet Tuesday evenings, as well as three Saturday morning classes.
Applications can be picked up at all Police Regional Commands as well as at Police Headquarters or can be downloaded and printed below. Completed applications must be forwarded to Detective Mike Baranyay in the Chief's Office at 911 N. Raynor. Deadlines for all applications is February 7, 2014.
