El Paso Electric unveils new electric car
It's fast - it saves cash - and it's environmentally friendly..
There's a new car roaming the streets of El Paso.. and it's run on hybrid energy..
El Paso Electric welcomed a 2014 Nissan Leaf as part of their energy efficient pilot program.. the car has an EPA rating of about 73 miles per charge, which is equivalent to almost 100 miles per gallon.
"its a test pilot, currently one vehicle to be incorporated in our meter reading.. The take home story is that when we look at our larger forms of generation and we become cold free by 2016 this is part of our larger plan to be smarter energy and to be certinetly energy efficient in terms of our operational cost moving forward," said Eddie Gutierrez, El Paso Electric spokesperson.
El Paso Electric officials - anticipate an annual savings of more than three-thousand dollars.
