City selects El Dorado students as winners of Earth Day mural contest

Congratulations to the El Dorado 9th Grade Academy, who are the winners of this year's El Paso Environmental Services Department Earth Day Celebration mural contest.

The mural contest was open to all area high school students and their art teachers. As winner, El Dorado 9th Grade Academy will receive supplies to paint the design on a large City roll-off container, transforming it from a trash bin into a work of Earth-friendly art. The students will also be recognized by El Paso's Mayor and City Council.

The finished mural will be unveiled at ESD's Earth Day Celebration on April 5th at the Municipal Service Center, part of the City's Earth Month festivities.

Award-winning student artists are: Leslie Alcala, Dyani Avila, David Castillo, Jonathan Estrada, Alejandra Flores, Michelle Hernandez, Claudia Lopez, Moises Maldonado, Luis Martinez, Mariana Sigala. Their art-teachers are Julian Vidales and Arturo Villegas.
