Police Warn About Check Scam
El Paso Police said an old scam has resurfaced and want to make sure people do not fall victim to the scam.
According to police, a person may receive a check in the mail and are asked to deposit the money into their account and send a portion of the proceeds via money order to a location.
Police said the check will bounce and the bank will hold the person responsible.
Validating the organization or company of the check will help ensure a person does not become a victim, police said.
