EL PASO - An El Paso police officer is in the hospital after he was hurt while chasing a suspect allegedly involved in a beer run.

It happened at around 3:15 this morning at the 7-11 on Sun Valley and Gateway North.

After stealing beer, police say the suspect ran towards the Butterfield Apartments across the street.

The officer chased him over a wall into the apartments and is said to somehow have hurt his ankle.

The suspect who allegedly stole the beer was caught and arrested.
