EL PASO — Investigators have located and met with the driver of the Lexus who was a key witness in Thursday's traffic fatality.
No charges are expected to be filed in this case. This death is the 24th traffic fatality and 8th pedestrian death as compared to 43 and 11 at this time last year.
Police identified Thursday morning's hit and run victim as 23-year-old Marco Antonio Reyes. The driver of a commercial truck that ran over and killed him also came forward to police.
Reyes died in East El Paso on the 6700 block of Boeing. The investigation revealed that Reyes was driving a blue 2005 Ford F-150 pickup truck and became involved in an argument with the driver of another vehicle.
As a result, Reyes exited his truck at the intersection and confronted the driver of the other vehicle. The two began to fight, landing Reyes under the trailer of a tractor trailer. At that same time the light at the intersection turned green and the driver of the commercial vehicle proceeded forward running over Reyes.
Investigators do not believe that the driver of the tractor trailer was aware he ran over the victim. Soon after the man involved in the fight left the scene. The other vehicle is described as a pearl white colored Lexus with cream colored bottom rockers.
The driver of the Lexus is described as a Hispanic male, 25 to 27 years of age, large build, approximately 6-feet in height, weighing more than 200lbs., short hair, clean cut, and last seen wearing a black muscle shirt. Investigators are asking for the driver of the Commercial vehicle to contact Investigators immediately. In addition, investigators are asking the man involved in the fight to come forward as he is also a key witness to the death of this 23-year old man.
