Police Issue 51 Traffic Tickets In Double Sting
Las Cruces, N.M. — Las Cruces Police issued 51 citations and seized one vehicle during two traffic enforcement operations held Wednesday.
The first project began at 7:30 a.m. and was held on Del Rey Boulevard near Starburst Ridge Court. LCPD had received complaints of motorists speeding in the area and during today’s one-hour operation police issued 15 citations to drivers exceeding the speed limit. Officers issued another nine citations along Del Rey for various other traffic offenses.
The second project held Wednesday ran for 90 minutes and began at 11 a.m. near the intersection of Idaho Avenue and Lee’s Drive. Officers issued 27 citations at that location including seven for using a cell phone while driving and five for running a stop sign.
Two citations were given to drivers who allowed dogs to ride on their laps. The practice is potentially hazardous and a prohibited activity.
Officers also made one arrest for driving on a revoked license. The driver’s vehicle was seized under the city’s DWI forfeiture program.
LCPD plans additional traffic enforcement operations in the near future.
