"Pocket Park" opens, first of 2012 Quality of Life bond projects completed
EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — After years of planning and months of hard work, residents in Central El Paso have a new park.
This is the first project to be funded and completed by the 2012 Quality of Life bonds.
The "pocket park" project turned a long-vacant lot into an urban oasis in the Magoffin Historic District.
The park includes a gazebo and green space.
"We've hads tremendous impact within the community already," said Tracy Novak, of the El Paso Parks and Recreation Department. "In the short time we have been open... the children and the families came in."
Two other projects are expected to open soon, including another park on the 6200 block of Fiesta Dr. in West El Paso, and a skatepark at Northeast Regional Park.
