Fort Bliss, TX — Fort Bliss's fight for suicide prevention has made it onto the cover of the Army Times, the military branch's leading publication.
The installation saw a 30 percent drop in suicides last year.
Outgoing commanding general, Maj. Gen. Dana Pittard said they managed to be successful in combatting suicide by changing up how soldiers train, from morning to evening schedules, and and enforcing the feeling of responsibility for fellow soldiers.
"We're talking about it because we care. We're talking about it because we don't want people to lose hope," Pittard told the staff at the Army Times.
Pittard will leave the post this May.
