Pickett to hold town hall meeting Tuesday
El Paso, TX (KTSM) — Texas State Representative Joe Pickett will hold a town hall meeting on Tuesday, October 15th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at Desert View Middle School.
Representative Pickett represents District 79, consisting of a large section of east El Paso. Pickett has represented this district since 1995 and currently is the Chairman of the Homeland Security and Public Safety Committee for the Texas House of Representatives and a member of the Transportation Committee and Redistricting Committee.
During the third special session of the 83rd Texas Legislature, Representative Pickett spearheaded the passage of a key transportation funding bill, requiring TxDot to find funding within their current budget to pay down debts before any funds can be accessed through the Rainy Day Fund. He did however, come under fire after he broke ranks with other House Democrats in the 83rd Legislative Session when he was one of only four Texas Democrats who voted for strict abortion restrictions throughout the state.
The Town Hall will be an opportunity for constituents of District 79, as well as all El Pasoans to attend for a full Legislative Session review including the upcoming Constitutional Amendments on the ballot in the November 4th election.
Pickett will be holding an open question and answer period at the conclusion of his town hall and he welcomes all El Pasoans to attend.
WHEN: Tuesday, October 15th 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm
