Pellet Gun Robbery Ends in K-9 Capture
LAS CRUCES — Two men believed to have been invovled in a weekend Pik Quick robbery were arrested on multiple charges.
Juan Emilio Rubio, 21, and Sebastian Carreon, 19, are charged with one count each of armed robbery and conspiracy. Rubio was also charged with battery upon a peace officer while Carreon faces one count of possession of a stolen vehicle.
Las Cruces Police learned that shortly after 1 a.m. Saturday, two young men walked into the Pic Quik store on Telshor Boulevard. Rubio threatened a store clerk with what appeared to be a handgun and demanded cash from the register. Meanwhile, Carreon cut open a locked refrigerator door and took an 18-pack of beer.
Both men left the store in what was described as a stolen, white four-door Saturn.
As officers approached an apartment complex where Carreon lived, they spotted Rubio and Carreon who both began to run from police. Carreon was caught rather quickly however a K-9 helped subdue Rubio.
Rubio and Carreon are both being held at the Dona Ana County Detention Center on $100,000 bonds.
