For the first time in a long time, part of the borderland is officially drought free.

The National Weather Service says parts of southern New Mexico, including small portions of Doña Ana, Otero, and Eddy counties, are no longer in drought thanks to recent storms.

Many parts of the state have seen record rainfall this month, although more than 95 percent of the state is still in a moderate to severe drought.
