It's back to school for most kids in El Paso this month, and that means spending lots of money on supplies. The National Retail Foundation is predicting parents will spend more this year compared to last.

One Office Depot location on the east side is glad to hear it.

They do about 25% of their annual sales in July, August and September for back to school.

Manager Miny Nieto says they've learned from last year's slump in sales and are bringing back bargains to attract customers.

"This year again you see a lot of customers coming in looking for values, the penny items, and things we have on sale," she said. "We see a lot of price matching."

Tonight at ten we'll hear from a mom who learned from last year's hard times and set aside money this year just for school supplies.

What upsets me is that teachers give a list of items to the kids that they are required to bring back to class to share with everyone else. So not only does "jimmy" get free goverment sponsored breakfast and lunches other parents have to pay for his school supplies. Whats worse is "jimmy" may not be a citizen of this country.

Thats a fact EPISD refuses to see. Let a child of this country become second place because another has taken that desk.
