Parents and students meet one of the candidates vying for the CISD superintendent position

The public had the chance to meet one of the candidates vying for superintendent in the Canutillo School District.

Dr. James Steinhauser was interviewed by the school board Thursday and parents and students got a chance to meet him at a community meeting at Canutillo High School.

He is the Assistant Superintendent for Research and Evaluation in the El Paso Independent School District.

Dr. Steinhauser talked about that valuable lessons he learned in his career. 

Dr. Steinhauser says, "One of the things I learned as a teacher is that when i made a decision about students, it's about the student. It's not about what the accountability rating is going to give us as a campus but is it the best thing for the student."

The other two finalists, Ricardo Lopez, an area superintendent for YISD, will have his community meeting on April 29.

Dr. Pedro Galavíz, the Director of Secondary Education for the Round Rock Independent School District, will have his April 30.
