Owners Encouraged to Prepare Pets for July 4
EL PASO — Pet owners are advised to keep their furry friends safe during July 4 festivities.
While fireworks are banned, there's a possibility some residents will be setting some off in your neighborhood.
One veteranarian tells us animals can get severe anxiety with the noise of popping fireworks.
"If nothing else, you just gotta make sure they're secure, that they're not gonna get away maybe put them in a dark room, you could sit with them and reassure them," said veterinarian Dennis Flosi.
Dr. Flosi also said for the future, you can desentize your pet by playing a recording of fireworks and thunderstorms so they get used to the sounds.
