FORT BLISS- Another 300 Fort Bliss soldiers are making their way to Afghanistan. The troops will serve nine months overseas.
This is the second deployment from the post in less than a week.
Private First Class Michael Brown joined the army only eight months ago, and at age 20 he says he is ready to serve.
"You know, I've had a lot of training, so I feel confident going over there, but at the same time leaving family is going to be hard going over there. Turning 21 in Afghanistan not being able to do anything,” said Brown.
It's not just the soldiers getting ready for the deployment.
"He's going be gone, so obviously I'm going to miss him a lot. Other than that, I just let god drive and just let him take care of him. That's all you can do,” said Rosie Pearson. Pearson’s husband deployed on Wednesday.
Even if this isn't their first time being deployed, others say that it doesn't make it any easier.
"This is the second time going over, so go over and do what I got to do and come back. The hardest thing about it is leaving your family, my lovely wife, my pastor," said CW2 Anthony Johnson Sr.
Johnson says although it is hard leaving his children, he hopes he is sending the right message.
"Being honorable, a man of your word, and doing what you got to do, no matter what as long as you are doing the right thing,” said Johnson.
Fort Bliss says that the 3-1 “Bulldog” Brigade will have deployed approximately 3,000 soldiers by the end of the month.
