Mayoral candidate Oscar Leeser was headed into a runoff with Steve Ortega. Leeser had 47.50 percent of the votes.

“The biggest difference is the people are ready for trust and integrity. They tell us they don’t want their vote voided. They want their voice heard and that’s been the biggest difference through the whole campaign,” said Leeser.

Leeser has been in the car sales business for more than 30 years and has been owner of Hyundai of El Paso since 2001. Hyundai Motor America is a major sponsor of the Sun Bowl.

It's was a packed house of Oscar Leeser supporters at the Haskins House in West El Paso. Everyone was in good spirits since Leeser was the front runner the entire night.

There were many familiar faces at the watch party, including two other mayoral candidates Dino Martinez and Jaime Perez. They said they were there to show respect and they think Leeser is the perfect man to take charge.

Other people at the party were El Paso County Sheriff Richard Wiles, State Representative Joe Pickett and Former Mayor Joe Wardy.

Mayor Wardy said he’s best friends with Oscar and he's what El Paso needs. He said recent leadership has failed and Oscar will be a great mayor.

Leeser said as mayor, he will rally El Pasoans to support the controversial Triple-A ballpark.

“I didn’t like the process but I’ll make sure I finish it the proper way,” said Leeser.

Leeser will continue campaigning until the runoff election on June 15.
