As a Federal Government shutdown looms, El Paso Congressman Beto O'Rourke released a statement on his Facebook account regarding the Continuing Resolution passed earlier this morning in the Senate that would fund government operations through November 15, 2013. The continuing resolution currently backed in the Senate removes all provisions to defund the Affordable Care Act and is expected to be signed by President Obama if it passes the House.

"If Congress wants to make changes to the Affordable Care Act, we should do so through the regular legislative process, not by holding the country hostage with the threat of not meeting Congress’ most basic responsible to fund the government." O'Rourke said.

He also went on to say if the resolution does not pass the House and a government shut down does occur that he would return his federal pay.
