EL PASO - Quite a few people are standing up for Mayor John Cook and Representatives Steve Ortega and Susie Byrd. Last week, we reported that dozens of people launched a campaign to have the mayor and the two representatives recalled. Now, opponents of that campaign, are taking to Facebook.

Those behind the recall effort, led by Pastor Tom Brown, are angry at Cook, Ortega and Byrd, for overturning a voter-approved ordinance, that stripped city-employed domestic partners of their health benefits. Representative Byrd defended her move, calling the ordinance discriminatory.

Now, there's a facebook page called, No Recall - "Support strong leaders, say no to recall." The group was formed a week ago, and has more than 360 "likes."

Today, Pastor Brown told us he has hundreds of pages of signatures, and is confident he will have enough support to put the recall initiative on the next ballot.
