UPDATE: Socorro Police are investigating a crash on Monday night that left one man dead.
It happened on I-10 East near the Clint exit at about 9:30 p.m. According to witnesses, a small pickup and another car were racing when the pickup lost control. Socorro Police Spokesman David Garcia said two men in their 20's were thrown out of the truck and were laying in the road.
"According to early investigations and statements from witnesses, the two were apparently in the truck racing a small black car when they tried to make the exit at Clint. Somehow, they lost control of the truck, traveled onto two wheels, then rolled it several times going back on to the freeway, cutting across traffic and coming to rest wheels down about an eight of a mile from where they lost control" said Garcia.
Police have not released the names of the two men. According to investigators, they were not wearing seatbelts. Speed is a factor. Police do not suspect alcohol.
