Las Cruces Crime Stoppers is offering a $1,000 reward and the South-Central Solid Waste Authority is adding $5,000 for information that leads to the arrest of the driver of a truck who allegedly ran over a county employee at the Butterfield transfer station.

The incident happened Monday, April 22, around 10:30 a.m. at the Solid Waste Transfer Station on 4925 Eason Lane.

According to the victim, he saw a driver dumping yard waste in an unauthorized area. The man allegedly got upset with the employee when he confronted him and ran him over.

The employee was run over by the Ford pickup and the single-axle trailer the truck was pulling.

The 59-year-old victim was airlifted to University Medical Center with leg and hip injuries.

The white Ford pickup was described as a 1980's or 1990's model single-cab and it was pulling a black single-axel trailer.

The driver of the pickup might possibly be a resident of Las Cruces' East Mesa as the majority of customers who utilize the Butterfield Solid Waste Transfer Station are area residents.

Anyone with information that can help identify the suspect or the Ford pickup involved in this incident is asked to call Las Cruces Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or send a tip via text message to CRIMES (274637), keyword LCTIPS.
