EL PASO - An off-duty uniformed officer in his personal car was involved in an accident in downtown El Paso early this morning.

It happened at the intersection of N. Santa Fe St. and W. Wyoming Ave. around 9'oclock.

Police say the officer claims he had a green light on N. Santa Fe, and the woman in the other car says she had the green light on W. Wyoming. The two crashed, and the woman's van hit a light police, causing it to fall on the van.

We're told no one fessed up to seeing the crash happen, so we're told no one will be ticketed. However, a man who saw the end of the crash spoke to NewsChannel 9. He said after the crash the officer didn't bother to check on the woman in the van, and he says he was surprised considering an officer, whether off duty or not, should be concerned for the public.

The officer and the woman weren't hurt badly.
