EL PASO - We're following a developing story this morning.

We're told an El Paso Police officer shot at a suspect near the UTEP campus.

It happened at around 3:30 this morning.

Police say the officer pulled over a black Kia Serrento near University and Sun Bowl.

That's when the driver tried to run the officer over, then took off.

Police say the officer fired two shots at the SUV, then chased after it.

The pursuit ended at Rim and Hawthorne, where the SUV rolled over.

Police took the driver and a woman who was in the passenger seat into custody.

She is believed to have jumped out of the vehicle during the chase.

Both were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Police still have parts of the UTEP campus blocked off, which could affect traffic later this morning.

We will continue to bring you updates on this story throughout the day.
