Occupy Las Cruces Protests on 2nd Anniversary of Citizens United
LAS CRUCES - We haven't heard much about them lately, but the Occupy movement is still very much active.
Today, Occupy Las Cruces rallied outside a federal courthouse to protest the second anniversary of the supreme court's "Citizens United" ruling.
"Citizens United" removed all restrictions on the donations that corporations make to our politicians. One occupier said that creates a problem that affects both parties, and added that money plays too big of a role in politics.
"Obama and our republican nominee will probably spend a billion dollars on their campaign this year and they're going to owe a lot of corporations a lot of favors,” said Jason Burke, a protester.
Occupy Las Cruces isn't the only Occupy group to protest the "Citizens United" ruling. Other Occupy groups around the country gathered outside federal courthouses today, to voice their opposition to the supreme court's decision.
