AFGHANISTAN - President Obama has arrived on a surprise visit to Afghanistan.

The president was greeted by General David Petraeus and Ambassador Karl Eikenberry after landing at Bagram Air Base.

There were originally plans for the president to meet with Afghan President Hamid Karzai in Kabul, but that was scrapped due to bad weather.

Instead, he will speak to Karzai by phone from Bagram.

During his stop, President Obama will thank troops and civilian workers for their work in Afghanistan.

The visit comes ahead of a full review of Obama's war plan later this month.

At least he shows up to thank them personally. I would love to pay more tax dollars to get him there more often and give the troops a morale boost. GO U.S.A.!!!!

Oh Boy! Another vacation at taxpayer expense. What a spendthrift. Probably will draw on his vast experience as a neighborhood organizer to tell Petraeus how to win the war. Can 2012 come fast enough?
