Obama Campaign Aims Social Media Engagement at Young Voters
President Barack Obama's campaign on Wednesday announced a new social media outreach project which asks young supporters to share what matters to them this election season.
Supporters are encouraged to post photos of themselves to social media -- such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram -- with their hand placed over their heart. The campaign is encouraging supporters to write an issue which matters on their hand.
Among the targets this cycle are young voters who were not yet elligible to vote in the 2008 election.
Campaign organizers point to the expanding influence of social media in young people's lives, and say this project, known as "For All" will complement their continuing on-the-ground efforts.
Also being released Wednesday is a radio ad which encourages young voters to register and vote.
"I see your passion, I see your service, I see your generation eager to make a difference," Obama is heard saying in the ad.
The Obama campaign says the minute-long radio spot will air in the battleground states of Colorado, Florida, Iowa, Nevada, New Hampshire, Ohio, and Virginia.
