A place of worship turns into a crime scene. Parishioners in Northeast El Paso arrived today to find out their church was burglarized. Church leaders tell us the suspect used rocks to break in to the building and took only what they could carry.
The Grace Lutheran Church had to repair two windows and install new locks after someone broke into the church's office.
Once inside, church leaders tell us, the suspect ran-sacked the place, stole a petty cash box and took a copy machine.
When the church's president arrived to get the church ready for Sunday worship...he found the broken glass.
"I called the police they came right out and the called the crime scene investigators and they came right out," Roger Thompson said. "Fortunately the crook was pretty dumb he left fingerprints all over the place."
Thompson says parishioners learned of the robbery during today's sermon. Someone from the church donated their time to help weld the bars back on and replace the windows.
Church leaders tell us as christians they are supposed to forgive, but in this case if an arrest is made they will press charges.
