North Korea threatened to close the Kaesong Industrial Complex today.

A statement broadcast on State TV said the government would "shut down the zone without mercy" if what it called "the puppet group," a reference to the US and South Korea, tried to tarnish the country's image.

The Kaesong Industrial Park has been operating normally.

The North Korean government shut down a communications channel typically used to coordinate travel by South Korean workers to and from the park just across the border in North Korea.

State TV today also broadcast video of students from pyongyang marching to wartime songs in haeju.

North Korea has made threats against the United States and South Korea amid US-South Korean joint military exercises and after U.N sanctions over its recent nuclear test.
