El Paso — Residents of the city's first smart growth community will have to wait to have a Whole Foods in their backyard. Montecillo tenants launched a grass roots campaign to bring the store to their complex this week.
It appears other residents are excited about the store. We placed the story on the KTSM Facebook page and it received dozens of comments and more than 100 shares! We reached out to Whole Foods and received a response Friday morning.
"Thank you for your interest in Whole Foods Market. It's always exciting when we hear from people who would like to have a Whole Foods Market in their area," said Kate Neu, Associate Marketing Coordinator for Whole Foods Market Southwest . "We are always looking for new locations, but we don't have any specific information on a new store opening in El Paso at this time. New stores are announced four times per year on our quarterly earnings calls."
"To determine if a specific metro area would be a good fit, we consider the number of people within a short drive of the store's potential location, the size of available spaces, the demographics of the area, as well as visibility and access of the site. Our website, www.wholefoodsmarket.com, has more information as well as how to share your feedback on where you would like to see a new store (under the Real Estate section)."
