Students at New Mexico State University are mourning the loss of a fellow student. Nicholas Clegg died Thursday when a driver swerved into his lane on US 180 in Deming.

The 22 year-old swerved to avoid the car and hit a guardrail. He was ejected from the vehicle. State police say Clegg and the other driver may have both been using their phones at the time.

Clegg was a senior studying mechanical engineering.
