LAS CRUCES - Do you have any skeletons in your closet? NMSU wishes it had one in theirs, after it was recently stolen.
"We just want the skeleton back," said art professor Craig Cully.
Have you seen her? She's 5'5", white, and plastic.
"It happened sometime between 9:30 and 10 p.m. on Sunday, January 30th," he said, when someone crept in, and did the unthinkable. And when Cully arrived for the next class...
"My worst fears came true and someone had taken the skeleton."
But the mystery doesn't end there.
"We had set it up in this rotten old chair we use as a prop, and someone took the chair," he said.
The chair may not have cost an arm and a leg, but the skeleton sure did. Cully paid $1,000 for it online and says with budget cuts, this theft leaves a gaping hole in the art department.
"We're likely never to get a skeleton again any time soon."
Cully just wants "Skeli" the skeleton back in one piece.
"If you happen to see a life-size skeleton sitting around anybody's place please contact me," he said.
This call for help makes us wonder - what would you do with a skeleton?
"I'd probably make an art project out of it," said NMSU student Tyson Alvidrez.
"I'd probably save it for Halloween, something like that," said NMSU student Benny Munoz.
Cully says he doesn't know if anyone has it out for him, but he says the ultimate losers are the students.
"Someone was going this as a revenge against me then they've missed their mark."
But Cully is still looking over his shoulder, so nothing else slips from his grasp.
"A real part of us is missing."
Cully says if you have the skeleton, there will be no punishment for bringing it back.
