NMSU presidential search committee on track to make recommendation

LAS CRUCES, N.M. — A search committee charged with finding the next president at New Mexico State University had its first meeting, according to committee Chair Larry Lujan.
In a letter, Lujan said the 15-member committee is on track to make a recommendation in hopes of announcing a new president in May.
The university decided to part ways with Barbara Couture last October.
Lujan said in the letter the next president has to have a good track record at a higher learning institution and must have an ability to connect with faculty, staff, and students.
The university will also be paying a search firm $90,000 to help with the selection process.
