Thousands of jobseekers in New Mexico couldn't believe their eyes.

Their recent unemployment checks were much bigger than they had expected.

Turns out, someone in state government made a mistake and doubled the payments to thousands of people.

The state says anyone who already spent the extra money will have to pay it back.
