NM AG addresses wage theft
NEW MEXICO (KTSM) — New Mexico Attorney General Gary King held a press conference to address their progress with their Wage Theft Task Force.
King said wage theft has been an issue in New Mexico because they had some of the weakest protection against it.
Wage theft can be when workers are simply not paid or when people are forced to work off of the clock or forced to work overtime without overtime pay.
King said if workers aren't getting paid properly, then the state loses tax dollars.
The task force has helped expedite wage theft cases. They used to take 6-8 months. Not they'll take 30-45 days.
