Newest fire station in Las Cruces will open next week
The public is invited to attend the official opening of Fire Station 7, the city’s new $2 million facility at the Las Cruces International Airport on the West Mesa. The ribbon cutting ceremony takes place at 11 a.m., Friday, Jan. 17, at 1050 Crawford Boulevard.
Fire Station 7 serves district 7 which covers Las Cruces, west of the Rio Grande. The station operates with 4 firefighters per shift and Engine 7. The new station’s crew is responsible for fire hose and nozzle repairs and testing for the department. Crews will assist in live fire training which will take place at the adjacent Public Safety Training Facility.
In addition, Station 7 provides aircraft-related services. It is home to the Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF) team that provides standby and response to aircraft related incidents.
