New virus strain grows, complicates flu season
A new strain of the Norovirus is gaining strength in the United States.
More than 140 outbreaks of the virus have been reported so far, but it could get worse in the midst of our intense flu season. That's because contracting both illnesses at one time could be possible this time of year. The Norovirus attacks the intestinal tract while the common flu causes more problems to the upper respiratory system.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says the best way to fight the Norovirus is to wash your hands.
