EL PASO — The original beautification plans for I-10 and Airway Boulevard have been scrapped, but a new design has been unveiled.
The new project will be the first part of the I-10 aesthetic improvement efforts that will stretch from Transmountain Road to the Americas Interchange.
"I think it's definitely a great idea, because we have the travelers, people that come by here coming from the airport," said Karla Carbajal of East El Paso. "It's the first thing they're going to see. It's their first image of El Paso."
Work on the $10 million aesthetics project could begin as early as January of next year. The original design was scrapped because many felt a needed truss would overpower the design.
