El Paso — El Paso County Judge Veronica Escobar has scheduled a 3 p.m. press conference to introduce her appointment of the Precinct 4 County Commissioner. Judge Escobar will be appointing Patrick T. Abeln.
The County Judge said Mr. Abeln is a seasoned professional who brings with him extensive management and fiscal experience. Up until 2009, Mr. Abeln served as Director of Aviation for the City of El Paso and previous to that was Chief Administrative Officer for the Tucson Airport Authority. He has a strong record of public service and knowledge that El Paso County will benefit from tremendously.

"This decision was challenging for me. No one can replace our friend and colleague, Dan Haggerty. The best I could possibly do was select someone who would serve Precinct 4, the County and our beloved community honorably and with integrity. Mr. Abeln brings those qualities and more to the Commissioners Court," stated County Judge Escobar.

A swearing in ceremony will be held immediately after the announcement.
