New poll shows more Americans blame congress for the shutdown than the president
NBC NEWS — For 10 days now, the government has been shut down, hundreds of thousands have been furloughed and Americans are frustrated and angry about it, according to a new NBC, Wall Street Journal poll.
With only one year separating the shutdown from the midterm elections, should politicians be worried about the consequences of their actions?
One in three of those asked, said they have been personally affected by the shutdown, and more people say that congress, not President Obama, is to blame.
31% blame the president, while 53% say that congress members are the reason that the government has shuttered its doors.
More than half of those polled said that they now have a negative view of the GOP. Only 24-percent have a positive view of the party.
That's the lowest positive rating given to the grand old party in the 25 years this poll has been in existence.
