El Paso City Council has taken a stand against new billboards.

A new ordinance bans new billboards within city limits and a few miles out.

It also limits the number of digital billboards to 15.

Supporters say billboards are a community eyesore and that digital signs are a distraction for drivers.

Opponents of the ban say it's only going to hurt local business. Under the new ordinance, to put up a new digital billboard, 16 regular billboards would have to be taken down.
