EL PASO--- There are new numbers on the scabies outbreak now affecting five area schools.
At least one more student at Riverside High School has scabies bringing the total number there now to two.
The mites have also spread to a new school, Cedar Grove Elementary. There are two students with the bug there.
At Ascarate Elementary, the number rose to 16 students.
At Riverside Middle the mites infected three students.
And one student is infected at Parkland Middle School.
On top of all of this, five staff members, including four teachers and one bus monitor, have been infected.
The Ysleta Independent School District Friday sent automated messages and notes home to students district-wide, hoping to curb the mites from spreading more.
The district is counting on the upcoming Spring Break period to help what mites are left in the schools to die off.
