New Mexico sees spike in tourism for third year
LAS CRUCES, N.M. — Tourism in the Land of Enchantment is up for the third straight year according to data released by New Mexico Governor Susana Martinez Monday.
Martinez announced tourism spending and jobs have surpassed pre-recession levels in 2012 with 32 million people visiting the state.
Direct tourism spending went up 7 percent to almost 6 billion dollars and created 4200 jobs.
The growth is expected to continue for 2013 with lodging reports showing a monthly increase in statewide lodging receipts.
