NEW MEXICO— New Mexico's Department of Transportation and local law enforcement agencies are asking motorists to stay off the roads.

Officials are asking motorists to use extreme caution as winds and dust cause minimal visibility across southern New Mexico.

NMDOT had closed NM-11 between Deming and Columbus, and US-180 between Deming and Bayard as high winds were reported in the following county districts: Hidalgo, Grant, Socorro, Luna, Dona Ana, and Sierra.
