Two recruitment fairs will be held this week for job seekers.
The 2010 census is right around the corner and if you live in Doña Ana County, you could be one of 800 people who lands a new job in the next two months. Most of these jobs will be temporary. They will vary from part-time to full-time, and some may last through December 2010. The local census manager, Doug Robertson, says the jobs can pay anywhere from $9.75 an hour to $51,000 a year. Robertson says many people went uncounted in the last census, affecting the amount of tax dollars sent to New Mexico from the federal government. The Census Bureau will be holding two recruitment events this week. The events will be Thursday, January 8 and Saturday, January 10 from 9 a.m. To 4 p.m. at the Comfort Inn and Suites at 1300 Avenida de Mesilla in Las Cruces.
