New home buyers in El Paso could soon pay more 'impact fees'
EL PASO, TX — Today, Tuesday February 25, 2014 El Paso City Councilors will discuss the issue of increasing 'impact fees,' which means if you have plans to build a new home in El Paso, soon you could have to pay more.
Any time builders and developers build new homes they pay 'impact fees' to the local water utility company so that they can get water and sewer services for the new homes. Those fees get passed down to the home buyer.
At today's meeting, city council will review the issue then on March 4, 2014 El Paso City Council will host a public hearing where they'll consider the pros and cons of increasing the 'impact fees.'
